National American University
Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, National American University
has been providing quality career education since 1941. National American
University opened the first campus in Rapid City, S.D., and the university has
grown to 16 locations throughout the central United States. In 1996,
National American University started developing online courses through its
distance learning virtual campus, and today offers students the flexibility and
convenience to take classes when it fits their busy lifestyle.
Undergraduate program offerings vary from diploma, associate and
bachelor’s degrees in areas ranging from accounting, allied health, business,
criminal justice, healthcare management, information technology, organizational
leadership, and RN to BSN.The university added graduate studies programs in 2000

Central New Mexico Community College
The Westside campus is CNM’s newest campus. It is located 22
miles from the Main Campus and sits on 109 acres in Ventana Ranch, about four
miles west of Coors. The Westside Campus serves the needs of many students
and its enrollment continues to grow, attracting students from Rio Rancho,
Taylor Ranch, Paradise Hills, and Ventana Ranch communities. Due to its unique
architectural style, the campus received an award in 2004 from the Association
of General Contractors and NM Business Journal.
The Westside campus opened in June 2003 with approximately 3000
students and it has 49 classrooms including five science labs and five computer
labs. The campus offers classes in over 20 different disciplines and it includes
an art studio, a nursing / phlebotomy lab, and a pharmacy studies lab. Westside
campus is known to provide students with marketable skills and training in
numerous occupational and transfer programs. Some of those are in the areas of
business, communications, humanities, computer technology, mathematics,
pharmaceutical technology, phlebotomy, and visual arts. Many students pursue
careers in teaching, medical fields, and various technologies. Whether you are a
traditional student in high school, transfer or returning student, the Westside
campus has something for you. Student support services include: admissions,
advisement, testing, registration, tutoring, library services, food court,
open computer lab and a learning center. Westside’s professional staff and

New Mexico Highlands University
You can get your degree locally! Our programs are unique in that
they provide area residents an opportunity to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s
degree or education licensure without having to commute long distances. Courses
can be completed through live instruction, interactive television, and the
Internet. Classes are held in the mornings, late afternoons, evenings, and
Saturdays. Highlands has responded to numerous requests to expand
educational opportunities in this locale to address needs of residents,
businesses, and schools.
If you complete an associate of arts (A.A.) or associate of science (A.S.)
degree at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) or any regionally
accredited New Mexico institution, the Highlands general education common core,
proficiency, and university requirements can be waived. If you have your A.A. or
A.S., you can begin working on your program requirements immediately. A minimum
of 128 credits are needed to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
Fifty-one of the undergraduate hours must be at the 300 and 400 level. You can
take CNM classes while enrolled at Highlands. A consortium agreement between
Highlands and CNM allows you to be dual enrolled and receive financial aid for

UNM WEST
UNM West offers both 8- and 16-week upper division courses
leading to degree completion. Courses are offered through a variety of delivery
methods which include face-to-face, interactive television, online and also
through correspondence. UNM West offers courses at four locations, three located
in Rio Rancho and one in Albuquerque. UNM West gratefully acknowledges CNM and
Destiny Center for providing classroom space for our students.
